Pretoria, 01 October 2026. Abram Prinsloo has turned a childhood spent walking up to 15 kilometres a day to and from Pheladi Nakene Primary School and later whilst attending Modiri Technical High School, into a career at the helm of a motor dealership.

His journey to the top was far from conventional. Before finding his footing in car sales, Prinsloo sold vegetables, phones, shoes, worked in a butchery and drove a courier vehicle delivering blood to hospitals.

“Each part of my journey taught me a lot. Those long walks to and from school, taught me perseverance, selling vegetables taught me about customers principles, the butchery taught me about service and my retail and management experience taught me how to handle people, pressure and targets,” stated Prinsloo.

He joined Hyundai Hatfield as a Sales Executive in August 2018 and progressed to Manager at Hyundai Centurion in August 2024. Now, he takes responsibility for leading Hyundai Zambezi, with an ambition of taking the dealership to even greater heights. His over 700 vehicle sales have been achieved in a very competitive South African automotive industry.

All those lessons would eventually converge at Hyundai Automotive South Africa. Following his consistent performance, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills towards his teams as well as Hyundai customers, Prinsloo has been appointed the new Dealer Principal of Hyundai Zambezi, in Pretoria.

The 42-year-old father of three who has been married for 17 years, said his unconventional career pathing nurtured him and remains humbled by the responsibility of leading a dealership.

“Every job I had taught me important lesson respecting people and working hard for results. My goal is to grow the Hyundai Zambezi dealership into one of the best dealerships across Gauteng. In the process, continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our current as well as future customers,” he added.

“Abey, as we commonly refer to him, has always been prepared to put in the work. His journey is a great example of perseverance, courage, a positive attitude and making the most of every opportunity,” said his line manager and mentor Joe Morland, Franchise Executive: Gauteng at Hyundai Automotive South Africa.

“What makes his appointment exciting is that he now gets to take all those experiences and use them to build and lead a formidable team. I have no doubt he will bring the same energy, passion and determination to Hyundai Zambezi and take the dealership to new heights.”

From a boy walking 15 kilometres to school to leading a car dealership, Prinsloo’s journey is truly inspiring.
